Rainbow Falls descends over a towering rock face in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, while smaller cascades wind through the boulders below, surrounded by the colors of early autumn.
Deep within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Rainbow Falls drops approximately 80 feet over a rugged rock face before continuing downstream through a series of smaller cascades.
Le Conte's Rainbow Falls captures more than the waterfall itself. The water makes its way through moss-covered boulders and fallen leaves, while the surrounding trees frame the scene in the subtle colors of early autumn.
Reaching this location meant hiking several miles along the Rainbow Falls Trail, climbing steadily through the forest toward Mount Le Conte. Standing before the falls, I wanted to capture both the height of the main waterfall and the journey of the water as it continued through the rocky creek below.
