Le Conte Creek makes its way through a rugged landscape of boulders and forest along the Rainbow Falls Trail, revealing a peaceful stretch of the Great Smoky Mountains.
The journey to Rainbow Falls follows the changing landscape of Le Conte Creek as it winds through the forests of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Along the way, the creek passes between large boulders, over worn stone, and through stretches of woodland where the surrounding terrain shapes the water's course.
*The Passage of Le Conte Creek* captures one of these scenes along the trail. Rather than a single dramatic waterfall, the photograph draws attention to the relationship between the flowing water, the rocks, and the forest around it.
It's the kind of place that makes me stop along a hike, even when there's still a destination farther up the trail.
